The 6 Charities we Support

Heart Kids is a nationwide organisation with the purpose of supporting families who have a child born with one or more heart defects. They help families at every step of their heart journey – from when a heart condition is first diagnosed, through childhood, the teenage years and into adulthood.

Practical and emotional support is vital for all those affected, helping individuals and families cope with the day to day challenges of living with a childhood heart condition. Heart Kids has a network of professional Family Support workers both in the National Children's Hospital and in our community to help families in times of need.

Big Buddy

Big Buddy makes a positive difference to those young lives by providing them with a man to look up to, someone who simply shows up, spends time and comes back. This simple gesture has life-changing results.

Big Buddy matches kind-hearted men with boys who do not have a father in their lives, so they can enjoy male friendship, guidance, someone to look up to and maybe even kick a ball around with. Our Big Buddies are thoroughly screened and then matched with a Little Buddy of 7-14 years of age. This commitment makes a huge positive both lives!

CureKids focus on raising funding to enable high-impact, New Zealand-based medical research to help save, extend and improve the lives of children diagnosed with serious life-impacting and life-limiting health conditions. Cure Kids was established by Rotary in 1971 as the Child Health Research Foundation, and since then we have invested more than $40 million in New Zealand research which has helped to shape and vastly improve the way children who live with serious diseases and health conditions are diagnosed and treated.

UpsideDowns education trust is a charity established in 2003 by parents of kids with Down syndrome. We provide funding for speech-language therapy for kids with Down syndrome. For children with Down syndrome, learning to speak can be a real challenge.

Speech-language therapy is life-changing, and not just for the children – it’s about their parents, whānau, teachers, neighbours, and the wider community. When these kids succeed, everyone benefits.

KidsCan is a nationwide charity that exists to provide the essentials to Kiwi kids affected by poverty so they can participate in learning and have an opportunity for a better future. Our Programmes, delivered through our partner decile 1-4 schools and low equity Early Childhood Centres, provide Kiwi kids in need with food, clothing and health items, so they can be in the best position to learn. Please help with our vision to create a better New Zealand for all Kiwi Kids.

Foster Hope

We believe every foster child deserves to know that someone cares about them. We demonstrate this by providing children with necessities to ease their way and symbolise community support for them and their carers. There are over 6,000 children in foster care in NZ. Are you aware that many of these foster children arrive at their new placements with NOTHING but the clothes on their backs, or with their belongings in a black rubbish sack? Let’s change this! We make up backpacks to be given to children when they are removed from their homes, with a backpack and a carry-all bag containing toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo etc) and some items that will show them they are loved (books, soft toys etc).
